Vacant rental unit: choose visibility, not occupied-home scenes
For an empty unit, focus on selected status checks and clear maintenance alerts. Scenes designed around a resident moving through the home may add little value, while named points and an authorized responder make a smaller package easier to use.

Define the vacancy period
List the conditions the manager actually needs to review between visits. Separate a door-state check or leak alert from assumptions about occupancy, security service or building protection that the selected devices do not establish.
Keep control limits stable
Do not casually include all-off power commands for the empty property. Essential equipment and building requirements remain separate, and any thermostat adjustment should stay within the property’s reviewed operating limits and compatible HVAC controls.
Request a manager’s point list
Ask for named sensors, account permissions and a local inspection process. Compare that focused plan with an occupied-home kit so procurement follows the vacancy task rather than buying a room package just because it is available.
