Local Control: Ask Which Actions Work When the Internet Stops
Local control is most valuable when it protects the actions you depend on. Buy against an offline action list, rather than treating the word local as a promise about every feature.

Choose essential actions
Identify what should continue without a wide-area internet connection, such as a physical light command or a selected sensor rule. Remote viewing and voice services may follow a different path.
Separate internet and power
An offline automation still needs power for its relevant controller, network and actuators. Discuss those dependencies rather than assuming a local hub makes the entire home independent of infrastructure.
Make commissioning decisive
Request a demonstration with the internet disconnected and the agreed actions checked individually. A short signed result is more helpful at handover than a broad claim that everything always works offline.
