Better living-room light without replacing every fixture
If the ceiling light is adequate but evenings feel harsh, start with controllable table or floor lamps. Changing the entire lighting circuit is a different purchase, best justified by how the room is actually used.

Choose the missing layer
Put a reading light beside the chair and an ambient light away from the television. This lets you improve two useful positions without making every lamp a smart device or disturbing finished walls.
Keep ordinary control
A compatible Hue setup is one route; an appropriately rated plug-in lamp dimmer is another. Compare bulb replacement with retaining a lamp you like, and keep an accessible physical control for other family members.
Price the useful pair
Ask for the lighting devices, required controller and one simple scene control together. Add the ceiling circuit later only if the new lamps still leave an everyday task poorly lit.
