TV backlighting or HDMI sync: which experience are you buying?
A steady light behind the television and lighting that follows the picture solve different wants. Buy simple bias or ambient lighting if you mostly want a comfortable evening scene; investigate HDMI sync only if changing colors with content is the goal.

Follow the video path
List the streaming box, game console and television apps you actually use. A sync box sits within a particular signal path; built-in television apps need a separate compatibility check rather than an assumption that all content will sync.
Choose light placement
Light bars can suit a console or shelf; other luminaires may suit a wall wash. Measure the available space and consider reflections in the screen before ordering a matched-looking set that has nowhere useful to sit.
Build in stages
Start with a useful non-synchronized scene, then request a source-by-source sync proposal. Include the bridge, cables and supported formats in the quote; a picture of colorful lighting is not a connection diagram.
