Battery or Wired Video Doorbell: Start with Power at the Door
A battery model can simplify placement; a suitable wired model can reduce routine charging. Choose around the existing power and recording brief rather than treating either approach as universally better.

Inspect before choosing
Ask an installer to identify the existing transformer, cable and chime arrangement. A cable at the door does not prove that its voltage and connected components match a new doorbell.
Be specific about recording
State whether you need event clips or continuous coverage, local storage or a service plan. Compare supported recording modes on the exact model instead of assuming all powered doorbells behave alike.
Choose the reachable option
For battery hardware, confirm that the owner can remove or charge it safely. For wired equipment, include the power work in the quotation so maintenance convenience is compared on equal terms.
