One basement sensor cannot watch every low spot

Plan basement water monitoring by separate collection points rather than floor area alone. One sensor near a drain does not necessarily report a leak beneath a distant heater or appliance, even when all the equipment shares the same room.

Sketch likely water paths

Mark appliances, plumbing connections, floor level changes and accessible low points. This is a placement exercise, not a guarantee about how every future leak will travel; use the actual finished floor and equipment positions.

Name each independent point

Use labels that a local responder can recognize immediately. Include the selected sensors’ controller requirements and test alert reception at each final point, particularly if the basement has weak wireless coverage or thick interior walls.

Compare coverage, not pack size

Ask for a point map with a quantity beside every risk location. That lets you compare a small targeted order with a multi-pack and choose extra units only when they cover a genuinely separate point.
