Shared office feels uneven? Start with room observations
For a small office with uneven comfort, begin with representative readings and the building’s HVAC arrangement. Sensors can support a clearer discussion, but they do not automatically give each desk independent temperature control or authorize changes to shared building equipment.

Measure occupied areas
Place measurements near normal working areas, away from direct sun and supply air. Note occupancy and shade use so the pattern can be discussed with the building or HVAC professional rather than treated as a single unexplained reading.
Keep landlord boundaries explicit
Identify which controls the tenant may adjust and what belongs to the building. A residential thermostat in a catalog is not evidence that it can replace the existing commercial or shared system controller.
Request monitoring separately
Ask for a simple monitoring option and any separately reviewed control proposal. This keeps a useful first purchase possible while leaving equipment compatibility and operating limits to the appropriate authorized review.
Before you buy
- Record several occupied periods
- Confirm tenant authority
- Separate monitoring from HVAC control
