Agree how a referral will be followed up
A referral should have a practical follow-up plan, not just a transferred email address. Agree who acknowledges the introduction, who discusses the project and when the parties review whether there is still an active opportunity to pursue.

Separate activity from progress
A useful update can identify the next decision or missing information without exposing the customer’s private discussion. Avoid treating repeated messages as evidence that a project is moving forward when the buyer has not chosen a next step.
Respect the customer’s timing
A future renovation and an immediate replacement purchase have different rhythms. Record the customer’s stated timing and preferred contact route. This helps the partners distinguish a deferred project from an enquiry that should no longer be actively followed.
Confirm the arrangement directly
When talking with HomeTech, discuss referral validity, attribution and the review process explicitly. Those terms are agreed for the relationship; a general guide does not establish a fixed protection period or promise a particular outcome for every introduction.
