Portable Accent Light or a Smart Plug on the Lamp You Own?
If you already like a lamp, a suitable smart plug may add the switching you need. Choose a new accent light when its placement or lighting character is the improvement.
Try the existing lamp first
Check whether the lamp resumes its useful state when power returns and whether simple on/off control meets your needs. A plug cannot create dimming or color features that the lamp does not have.
Pay for a useful difference
A purpose-built accent light may suit a shelf, wall wash or movable evening arrangement. Decide where that effect belongs before buying several decorative fixtures without a clear role in the room.
Keep controls easy
Compare the finished control routine and any required bridge or charging arrangement. For a guest room, straightforward physical operation can be more valuable than adding another set of app-only lighting options.
