Matter over a Bridge or Native Matter: Which Device Should You Buy?
Both approaches can belong in a well-planned home. The important question is whether your chosen platform exposes the functions you need from that exact device and connection path.

Keep the device path visible
A bridged accessory reaches another platform through a compatible bridge. A native Matter accessory joins through its supported transport and controller; neither description promises identical features across every app.
Separate basic and extra functions
Ask about the one action you want, such as open status triggering a light. Then ask which detailed settings still live in the manufacturer app so the final workflow is understandable.
Reuse sound equipment
If a supported bridge already handles your installed accessories well, keeping it can be sensible. Request a migration reason tied to an actual limitation before replacing functioning hardware throughout the home.
