Taking over an existing smart home starts with an inventory
A takeover is not the same as a new installation with familiar devices. Establish what is installed, who owns the accounts and which functions matter before recommending replacement hardware or accepting responsibility for the existing system.

Find the working baseline
Ask the authorized owner to demonstrate normal operations and identify known faults. Record exact models and controller references. Do not assume that every visible device belongs to the same ecosystem or that a missing scene requires a full replacement.
Resolve legitimate access
Follow the platform’s supported ownership and sharing processes. Keep former-user access and recovery questions separate from equipment sourcing. The local team needs a legitimate administration arrangement before it can sensibly plan maintenance or future changes.
Propose repair before expansion
Bring the inventory and priorities to HomeTech for technical or sourcing discussion. Separate urgent fixes, optional replacements and new functions so the buyer can choose useful work without treating the entire installed home as disposable.
Before you buy
- Record existing models
- Verify authorized ownership
- Separate repair from expansion
