Heavy Curtains: Check Smooth Travel Before Adding a Retrofit Driver

A motor works with the running hardware you already have. If the curtain catches or needs a sharp pull, assess the rail, rings and fabric arrangement before deciding which driver to buy.

Try the full journey

Move the curtain through normal opening and closing and note where resistance appears. A single stiff joint can matter more than a broad claim that a motor handles heavy curtains in general.

Provide the actual load

Send the curtain weight, travel length and support type. Let the proposed model’s documented limits guide selection, rather than choosing a higher-looking specification without checking the existing mechanical condition.

Price the correction too

If rings or rails need work, include that before motor installation in the quote. A clean, serviceable running path helps produce a pleasant daily result and avoids buying a driver to hide a mechanical problem.
