A new tenant should get a clean device handover

When a business takes over a fitted space, review the existing smart devices before adding more. Retained hardware can be useful, but the incoming tenant needs clear ownership, appropriate permissions and a record of which old accounts or credentials were removed.

Inventory the retained devices

Record exact models, controller locations and which components the landlord expects to remain. Separate those from equipment removed by the departing tenant, otherwise a proposed upgrade may rely on a device that is no longer part of the premises.

Review access before scenes

Follow documented transfer or reset procedures and test old-access removal. Do not assume that changing a room name or creating a new dashboard removes prior viewing, control or administrative permissions from every connected service.

Request an audit-led quote

Ask for a changeover scope and a targeted replacement list. Add new lighting or sensors only after the retained system and local commercial installation requirements have been reviewed for the incoming business’s intended use.
