Automatic Locking: Check the Closed-Door Story Before You Buy
Automatic locking should match how your door actually closes. Compare a lock’s own closing detection with a separate door-contact requirement before choosing the final entrance package.

Closed is not just a timer
A family may pause while unloading shopping or receiving a parcel. Explain those routines when selecting settings, so the intended behavior does not become an irritating race against the door.
Ask what status you will see
A lock status and an open-or-closed door indication answer different questions. Request both explicitly if you need to check whether the entrance is fully secured from another room.
Test the annoying moments
Include a door left ajar, a slow-closing hinge and manual locking in the handover test. Select and configure the hardware around those cases rather than trusting a feature name alone.
