Should your showroom demonstrate an internet outage?
Yes, if you can explain exactly what the demonstration proves. A controlled internet-disconnection test helps a buyer distinguish local operations from cloud-dependent features. It should never become a claim that every device works offline.

Define the scope of the test
Disconnect the internet connection while preserving the local network used by the demonstration. Label the controller and devices involved. Switching off every router tests a different failure and should not be described as the same thing.
Write two short lists
Show which physical controls and scenes still operate, then which remote or cloud functions stop. Home Assistant documents its local-control approach, but a specific project still needs its own integration and device checks.
Turn reliability into a specification
Offer to include an offline capability list in the customer’s proposal. Ask HomeTech about building a showroom demonstration around the functions your local buyers actually need to preserve during an outage.
Before you buy
- Distinguish WAN from LAN
- List surviving functions
- Retest the quoted device set
