Should a store lend customers a smart-home sample?
A loan sample can help with a specific uncertainty, such as a control’s reach or a speaker’s placement. It works best when the question, return condition and account handling are agreed before the device leaves the store.

Lend to answer one question
A small lamp-control sample is easier to evaluate than a box of unrelated devices. Define what the customer will try and what result would change their buying choice. Do not describe a brief loan as proof of long-term reliability.
Protect setup information
Keep the lending arrangement separate from the store’s own demonstration accounts. Explain reset and return steps in advance. Devices that require door changes, mains wiring or sensitive access permissions may be unsuitable for casual take-home trials.
Choose other ways to test fit
A photo review or site survey may answer the question better than a loan. Discuss sample arrangements with HomeTech as part of the store’s operations plan; availability and any commercial terms must be agreed for the actual equipment.
Before you buy
- Define the trial question
- Agree on reset and return
- Exclude unsuitable installation work
