One Button for the Family: Start with a Scene Everyone Understands
A physical scene control should reduce thought, not add another command language. Choose the control format around the people who will use it, including the least app-interested person in the house.

Pick the clear result
A good first scene has a name such as evening lights or bedside off. Avoid assigning unrelated outcomes to a gesture that visitors cannot infer from the control’s appearance or position.
Compare control formats
A simple button and a multi-gesture device invite different habits. Try the intended user interaction before standardizing a whole house, especially where accidental activation would be annoying or difficult to reverse.
Keep the scope narrow
Have the installer document the exact devices included and leave normal controls available. A scene that turns off agreed lights should not unexpectedly remove power from equipment with a separate operating purpose.
