An Extra Room Sensor Is Only Useful in a Representative Position
Before buying several room sensors, decide which locations will tell you something useful about comfort. A convenient shelf beside a sunny window may measure the shelf more than the experience you want to improve.

Follow the person
Look at where someone sleeps, sits or works and what times feel uncomfortable. The relevant reading is one that helps evaluate that occupied area rather than a decorative position chosen for symmetry.
Notice local influences
Discuss sunlight, supply vents and nearby electronics when choosing the position. A sensor placed beside a local heat source can encourage misleading conclusions about the rest of the room or the HVAC system.
Buy fewer with a purpose
Start with the location that answers the most important comfort question and confirm controller compatibility if the reading will affect operation. Add further sensors when they contribute a distinct useful view.
